Mulembe
Kelsey is a student at the University of South Florida that has a passion to end all social injustices. While she feels called to school she is still helping fight these situations with her photography. She shoots what inspires her with a Nikon D5000
A 5×7 photo in an 8×10 mat. This photo is shot in black and white on the property of a polio survivor in Uganda named Moses. The people in the background are his family. It is rare for polio survivors to be successful in Ugandan society, let alone have a home and a family. Mulembe means hello or “peace” in the Bugisu language and that is how Mzungus (white faces) greet the Ugandans, who are very peaceful by nature.
